Lets Travel Australia - Bus Tours , sailing .. rafting ... boats ... 4x4 tours ... eco tours ... camping tours ...

Bus tours designed for backpackers and all budget travellers operate through out Australia. They can be booked easily when you arrive or pre-booked before entering Australia. Most hostels will help you book or you can go directly to the operator. Think about how many miles the tour you want to do will cover and consider the option of a 2 or 3 day tour if you have more time.

Most of the tour companies listed on these pages use small buses, this is a great way to meet other travellers. Please take care when booking on tours that you are not being 'tricked' into going on a large tour bus. Often big companies, who really cater for a completely different market, will publish extra brochures that look like they are aimed at backpackers and budget travellers, they will offer cheaper prices and then have you end up on a large, impersonal coach.

The little bus companies tend always to give a far more friendly and personal experience and will generally stop in more places and be a lot more flexible.

Buying bus passes from large companies, like Greyhound, can be a cheap option and get you from point A to point B quickly but they lack an awful lot in the 'fun' stakes and I recommend giving them a miss and book with the companies dedicated to showing you the sights of Australia. It might be a one day return journey somewhere or a long trip all around Oz. You can easily go the whole way around Australia using lots of the small backpacker tour companies, they link up from city to city.

If you are looking to travel through more than one state by bus, please note that companies offering this option operate from various states and are listed only in their home state page. For example- a few bus companies are based in South Australia and go into Victoria, New South Wales etc. Do check each of these pages to see all the options available.

Please use the links above for each state, we have included all the small tour operators, without favouritism!
